Angelo’s Story

Can you imagine being 58 years old, never even been to a doctor before, having horrible symptoms of diarrhea, fever and indigestion hit you so suddenly that in 3 weeks time you dropped 20 lbs. and by the end of 3 months you were anemic, had dropped over 30 lbs and were finally diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer? Well this is exactly what happened to Angelo Mitropoulos. For over 30 years, Angelo has ministered God’s healing power to believers throughout the world. He has seen firsthand God’s miracle working power in the lives of others. Today, Angelo is believing God for a miracle of his own.
In October, after Angelo returned from his mission trip to Greece and realized that the symptoms were not getting better but that he was rather growing worse, he went into the doctor thinking that he might have contracted a parasite from something he ate while on the mission field. The doctors prescribed some antibiotics and acid reducers while running blood and stool tests to try and pinpoint the source of the problem. Thinking that since he was over 50 years old, and had never been to a doctor before, the doctors suggested that he should probably get a colonoscopy which would also rule out some of the more serious problems that could have caused these symptoms. It was during this procedure on Wednesday, December 16 that they found a cancerous tumor growing in his colon. That same day, he underwent emergency surgery and they removed that section of his colon with the tumor. Unfortunately, the medical team discovered the cancer was widespread and diagnosed him with stage four colon cancer which had spread to his liver and abdominal region. Further testing will show whether other organs have also been affected.
Angelo and his family have stood in faith with all of us for years, believing with us, teaching us and putting faith in our hearts for healing in our own lives and the lives of those we love. Now it is our turn to do the same for him. As his friends and family, we must stand together for a complete and total healing in our friend’s life. Angelo needs a miracle. As you can imagine, there are immense financial strains that come with being unable to work and compounding medical bills. In the coming months, it will be imperative for Angelo to concentrate on receiving his healing which will include obtaining medical, nutritional and spiritual help from a variety of sources, and the last thing he needs to be concerned about is the financial well being of his family. As friends of Angelo and beneficiaries of his service to the Lord, we are calling on all of those who love him and his family to step up and show in a demonstrative way that he has our love, support, and faith filled prayers. If we all do just a little we can ensure that this godly family is taken care of in their hour of need.

In closing, we are reminded of a scripture in James 2:14-18 which reads:
14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.18But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.”
